Stetson Bennett joined elite company on Monday night when Georgia Bulldogs win national championship for the second straight season.
Bennett became the sixth starting quarterback college football History of securing back-to-back national titles.
But, longtime radio broadcaster Chris “Mad Dog” Russo doesn’t like the idea of Bennett winning a championship because he believes the quarterback is too old to play at the college level.

Bennett turns 25 in October. He’s bigger than Brock Purdy, Trevor Lawrence, Jalen Hurts and Justin Herbert, all of whom are starters. NFL Playoffs this weekend.
Russo mentioned that he believed last season’s national championship game should have been Bennett’s final game at Georgia.
Russo said on the SiriusXM radio show, “I don’t have a problem. I have a bigger problem with Stetson Bennett, a 25-year-old who is playing college football.” “I can see it for a year. Last year he won. Burrow was running 23 on 24 when he won. But at 25, playing quarterback for Georgia, he had Should have let it go.”
Russo also indicated that Bennett’s age TCU Horned Frog and other teams Georgia dealt losses throughout this season.
“I didn’t know he was that old,” Rousseau continued. “I understand we have punters who are 50 years old from Australia. But I have a problem with a 25 year old playing against 19 year olds. I had a problem [Chris] Weinke doing it for Florida State when he won the Heisman [when he was 28], I didn’t vote for him because of this.”
Russo took a moment to acknowledge that the long road Bennett took to become the starting quarterback at Georgia was a great story.
“And I understand that the Bennett story is one hell of a story,” “Mad Dog” continued. “We all know about walk-ons, and [being] Told to go I understand that. But he’s older than 10 NFL quarterbacks! He is older than Justin Herbert, Jalen Hurts. He is the same age as Lamar Jackson. And it’s not like he didn’t win last year. He won last year.”
But Russo wondered at what age college players should no longer be eligible to play.
“Can you play if you’re 40?” Rousseau asked. “What’s the cut-off date? When do we sit there and look at a college athlete and say ‘You know what? This is ridiculous! He’s playing against a bunch of 19, 20-year-olds? It’s absurd.’ Is .’ When does it become a joke? What age is it? Thirty? There must be an age where it’s already enough. Thirty-one? When do we start thinking that an 11-year-old boy has the experience to have a physical relationship and… Mental advantage over competitors?”

He portrayed Bennett as a man playing among children.
Russo said, “I have a kid problem. He’s not a kid. A 25-year-old man playing college football at quarterback.”
Besides his age, Bennett does not have a physical advantage on the football field. The 25-year-old is 5 feet and 11 inches tall and weighs 190 pounds.
Many of his physical attributes may not transfer to the NFL, but Bennett head coach Kirby Smart said the quarterback should be given the opportunity to play at the next level.
Smart told reporters after the national championship game, “People have slept on Stetson Bennett for too long. He deserves an opportunity to play at the next level.”
Smart also told reporters that he went on his way son is crying because he realized that Bennett would no longer be the quarterback of the Bulldogs.
“I said, ‘He’s 25. He’s got to go!'” Smart told his son.
