Lancashire fast bowler Saqib Mahmood has been added to the England As a team cover for the second test against India
Saqib is believed to be brought in as cover after veteran pacer Stuart Broad suffered a calf injury during a training session at Lord’s on Tuesday.
The 24-year-old Shakib, who is of Pakistani origin, has played 16 white-ball games for England, including seven ODIs and nine T20Is, taking a total of 21 wickets.
He has taken 65 wickets in 22 first-class matches.
With Saqib joining the squad, the ECB reported that the off-spinner “will leave the Dome Bess this morning and return to Yorkshire.”
