Lakers’ Patrick Beverley on Deandre Ayton shove: ‘I would do the exact same thing’

Beverley said he was simply defending his teammate after being fouled by Suns guard Devin Booker Austin Reeves of the Lakers – dropping him to the floor – which was later determined to be a sweepstakes -1.

Ayton then appeared to stand over Reeves, which was when Beverly shouldered Ayton’s back, sending him to the court.

On the latest episode of “The Pat Bev Podcast,” Beverly discusses the controversy with Eton, saying he wouldn’t change anything about his response.

“F—that,” said Beverly. “F— him. We’re not going for that s—.”

He said, “I am a team team. You can ask the people who have played with me, ask the superstars who have played with me.” “There’s a reason people want me on their team after hearing about the trade this summer.

“Very unfortunate situation, you know. And if I could play it over again, I would do the exact same thing.”

After the game, Lakers head coach Darwin Hamm supported Beverley, saying that he was not bothered by his player pushing Ayton.

“From what I saw, Ayton was standing there (Reeves) ready to walk,” Hamm said. “I’m not mad at (Beverley). He’s out there protecting his partner and I’m sure he’s going to face some sort of consequence for that, but that’s what we have to be. Teams need to know they’re not just can push us around.”

beverly returns to court Wednesday against the Portland Trail Blazersscoring five points in 22 minutes in the Lakers’ 128–109 win.
