Karim Benzema scored two goals in the opening seven minutes as Real Madrid took an eight-point lead at the top of LaLiga in a 2-1 win at Athletic Bilbao on Wednesday.

Athletics retained the 10th position with 24 points.

Benzema broke the 400-goal mark in his professional career with a surprise strike from just outside the box in the fourth minute before adding another three minutes later when an athletic defender missed the clearance.
Oihan Sanset stopped Real’s momentum in the 10th minute with a sensational goal.
The hosts put up a fight but Real held off to get all three points.
