Kingston Polar Plunge returns to raise money and awareness for Special Olympics – Kingston | globalnews.ca

It was a packed scene at Crawford Wharf in Kingston as citizens from across the city gathered for this year’s polar plunge. Individuals, groups of friends and co-workers banded together in more ways than one to make a big splash, according to organizer Brian McMillan.

“We work closely with the Special Olympics. The money we raise goes directly to the athletes so they can participate in sports.

According to McMillan the organizers set a target of 40,000 which the community had no trouble achieving.

“The Kingston community has been amazing, they have come together to raise almost $60,000 and I am sure we will exceed $60,000 by the end of today”

The event will return next year for its 12th year in a row in Kingston and will hopefully continue to raise money and awareness.
