Kerala Assembly adjourned after UDF protests over minister’s anti-constitutional remarks

The Congress-led UDF opposition protested strongly in the Kerala Assembly on Wednesday over the minister. Saji Cherian’s remark against the constitution, Following which Speaker MB Rajesh announced the adjournment of the House for the day.

As soon as the proceedings of the House began, the opposition members came to the Well of the House raising slogans demanding the resignation of Cherian.

He urged the Speaker to take notice of his adjournment motion to adjourn the Question Hour and discuss the issue.

However, the Speaker decided to adjourn the House for the day as the UDF members did not heed their request to go back to their respective seats.

Later, the opposition members walked out of the house and held placards and staged a sit-in at the gate of the assembly building and raised slogans against the minister and the Left government.

Saji Cherian, Minister of Cultural Affairs and Fisheries, landed in trouble on Tuesday for his remarks against the Constitution, triggering a major political row in the state, but soon expressed regret, claiming that he upholds great constitutional values. Maintainer is a public servant.

In scenes broadcast by TV channels, the minister can be seen saying in a recent program that the country’s constitution “pardons exploitation” and has been written to help “plunder” the people of the country, Which is getting strong reaction.
