Karnataka sex abuse tapes: Probe ‘politically influenced’, says BJP leader

BJP leader and lawyer G Devarajegowda alleged Monday that the SIT investigation into the sexual abuse allegations against JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna was “politically influenced”, and claimed that the “Congress government was trying to fix me”.

Addressing a press conference Monday in Bengaluru, Devarajegowda said, “The victims were being fed money to appear before the investigating officials. The videos in circulation are morphed.”

In 2023, Devarajegowda had written to the national and state BJP leadership warning of the consequences for the BJP-JD(S) coalition for LS elections in Karnataka if the videos were leaked to the public.

Though he claimed he had given all the information about the case to SIT officials, Devarajegowda said he was issued a notice by SIT. A former driver of Prajwal, Karthik, had approached Devarajegowda seeking legal help. Devarajegowda said, “The videos (allegedly involving Prajwal) leaked are not the ones I have.”
