Karnataka Covid-19 wrap: Case fatality rate 3.96%; Prohibitory orders in Bengaluru extended till October 11

Karnataka registered 504 new COVID-19 According to the bulletin issued by the Department of Health and Family Welfare, the cases and 20 more deaths were reported on Monday.

893 people were discharged, taking the total number of cured people to 29,23,320. There are 13,590 active cases in the state. The state has so far recorded 29,73,899 Covid-19 cases and a total of 37,746 deaths.

The positivity rate stands at 0.48 per cent as 1,03,800 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours, while the case fatality rate was recorded at 3.96 per cent. Experts are of the opinion that the high CFR was due to the low number of cases.

Earlier this year on January 16, the 254th day of the start of vaccination against the infection in Karnataka, 2,26,496 doses were given in state centers till 3.30 pm, the bulletin noted.

Prohibitory orders in Bengaluru extended till October 11

Bengaluru City Police Commissioner Kamal Pant has imposed prohibitory orders till 6 am on October 11 in view of the ongoing pandemic situation in the state capital. The order further states that the night curfew will remain in force from 9 pm to 5 am.

It also prohibited the gathering of more than four persons in public places and activities, except those permitted as per the guidelines. However, public places like airports, railway stations, bus stands and metro stations are exempted from this.

Violators of these guidelines will be booked under the Disaster Management Act (2005), Karnataka Epidemic Diseases Act (2020) and relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
