Karachi Weather Update: 40-50 mm rain expected in the city today

Karachi: Under the influence of a strong weather system that has developed over the sea, the city is likely to receive 40-50 mm of heavy rain today.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said that a low air pressure exists south of Sindh which is receiving moisture from the North Arabian Sea.

The Meteorological Department said that there is a possibility of heavy rain in Karachi, Hyderabad, Thatta, Badin, Umarkot, Mirpur Khas and Tharparkar this morning.

It said that 40 to 50 mm of rain is expected in Karachi.

According to the PMD, rains are likely to continue in the city till July 9, which may cause flooding in low-lying areas.

According to the advisory of the Meteorological Office issued on Tuesday, monsoon currents are entering the country and may continue during the next 24-48 hours.

Monsoon currents are likely to intensify further from the weekend.

Under the influence of this weather system:

  • Rain-wind/thundershower is expected in Islamabad, Kashmir, Swat, Mansehra, Kohistan, Abbottabad, Haripur, Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Nowshera, Rawalpindi, Murree, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Sargodha, Hafizabad, M. B Din, Sialkot , Narowal, Mianwali, Bhakkar, Lahore, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sheikhupura, Faisalabad, Jhang, TT Singh, Okara from July 5 (night) to 7 (morning).
  • Heavy downpour is also likely in Kashmir, Peshawar, Mardan, Kurram, Dir, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Islamabad, Potohar region, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Hafizabad, Lahore, Faisalabad and Sargodha at 6 pm (July).
  • Jhob, Ziarat, Barkhan, Lorelai, Kohlu, Quetta, Kalat, Khujdar, Lasbela, Nasirabad, Sibbi, Panjgur, Turbat, Pasni, Gwadar, Ormara, Kech, Awaran, from 5th July (Night) to 7th July Kharan, Mirpurkhas, Dadu , Karachi, Thatta and Badin.

Warning

  • On July 5 (Night) 6 Heavy rains may cause urban flooding in Rawalpindi/Islamabad, Faisalabad, Lahore, Gujranwala and Sialkot.
  • There is also a possibility of flash floods in the local drains of Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Kashmir, Khuzdar, Lasbela, Nasirabad, Gwadar, Awaran, Barkhan, Bolan and Kohlu during the forecast period.
  • In Kashmir, Galiyat, Murri, Chillas, Diamir, Gilgit, Hunza, Astor and Skardu, rain can cause landslides.
  • Travelers and tourists are advised to be extra cautious during the forecast period.
