Jury hears Murdaugh stole millions from law firm amid gunshot residue evidence – live

Ms. Griswold remembers being so worried about what might happen now that she raised concerns about what Mr. Murdo might be doing.

She reached out to Mr. Wilson’s paralegal, Vicky Lyman, to voice her concerns.

Ms. Griswold says her daughter asked her to prepare her resume because she could be fired for her role in uncovering the apparent theft.

She remembers Ms Sekinger coming into the office and seeing Mr Murdaugh on 7 June 2021, the day of the murders. She left without saying anything.

Ms. Griswold dropped Mr. Murdaugh off at the office at 5.15 p.m. and went home. She awoke in the middle of the night to several texts and missed calls and spoke with Randy Murdoff, learning of Paul and Maggie’s murders.

In early 2021, the Mack Trucks case, on which Mr Murdaugh worked with his friend Chris Wilson, raised more red flags.

Ms. Griswold says she was shocked to learn that the legal fees were paid directly to Mr. Murdoch. He assumed it was a mistake or that he had lost the check.

He claimed that he never received the check and after a long chase, Mr. Murdaugh said that Mr. Wilson has money. It was the missing $792k that finally exposed the extent of Mr. Murdo’s theft.

Ms. Griswold brought in CFO Jean Sekinger (who testified yesterday) and they both agreed it didn’t look good but hoped it was some sort of misunderstanding. She says that both of them had a feeling that something was wrong.

Upon delving into the details of the financial crimes, Ms. Griswold recalls Mr. Murdo instructing him to change disbursement sheets and cut checks to “forge” and not “forge consulting.”

He also remembers that Mr. Murdo would personally take charge of those checks and say that he would pass them on himself instead of having them mailed to his contact at Forge Consulting, Michael Gunn.

Everything changed after the boating accident, Ms. Griswold recalls. Mr. Murdaugh changed, often locked himself in his office, was difficult to reach, and treated his paralegals aloof.

New Witness: Annette Griswold, Paralegal for Alex Murdoff

The next witness is Annette Griswold, Mr. Murdo’s former paralegal.

He is being questioned by prosecutor Creighton Waters.

Ms. Griswold handled Mr. Murdo’s large case files – workers comp, medical malpractice, wrongful death, etc.

She says of working for Mr. Murdaugh that he was extremely intelligent and that she respected and admired him for it.

Agent Fletcher testified that it is unusual for so many GSR particles to be found on the inside rather than the outside of a garment because people wear their clothes properly.

It remains a matter of speculation how GSR got inside the raincoat. The prosecution appears to be pointing to the firearms being wrapped in the garment.

Prosecutor John Meadors is now questioning Agent Fletcher on redirection following the conclusion of cross-examination.

During direct examination there was some confusion as to how many particles were found on the raincoat. 14 were found on the outside of the garment and 38 were found on the inside, although they stopped counting because there were too many. These were sampled from 13 outside lifts and 12 inside lifts.
