Jharkhand CM slams BJP, defends anti-lynching law

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Monday said his government was forced to enact an anti-mob lynching law that “ruined the social fabric” of the country after the “Ravan” party came to power at the Centre.

BJPMeanwhile, allegations that Soren is heading a corrupt government and that the “unconstitutional” mob lynching law was passed in haste in the Assembly, and is a culmination of the ruling government’s appeasement policies, reported PTI.

Addressing a journalist at his residence two days before the completion of two years of his government, Soren said the Centre’s decision to raise the legal age of marriage for women was a “political” move. He also said that his government may conduct a caste-based census in the state.

On the BJP’s claim that his government was appeasing a community, Soren said: “I saw in a report that people were taking an oath to make India a Hindu Rashtra… What is this? We have built a mosque to offer namaz (did we build a mosque to offer namaz). They (BJP) are misleading people…”
