Baghdad: Iraq’s anti-corruption agency said on Wednesday that the justice minister had been summoned to court after he was accused of stalling a corruption investigation by refusing to hand over documents.

An investigation began last month into “suspicions of corruption” in the distribution of prison food, which found food provided to be of “poor quality” and limited compared to payments made.

On Tuesday, Judge Haidar Hanoun, the head of the government’s anti-corruption agency, accused Justice Minister Khaled Shawani of “using his power to obstruct the work” of investigators.
