Delhi Capitals retain Rishabh Pant as captain IPL 2022 Mega Auction. Apart from this, he has also retained Axar Patel, Prithvi Shaw, Enrique Nortje. The website also states that Iyer has decided to go for the mega auction, where he will be eyeing five of the eight new franchises that are looking for a captain.

Iyer took the captaincy of Delhi midway Gautam Gambhir In IPL 2018. The following year he was made captain of the new franchise Delhi Capitals, where the team reached the last four for the first time in seven years. The following year he led the team to the finals before losing to Mumbai Indians. He had to pull himself out of IPL 2021 after moving his shoulder in the limited overs match against England.
The website says that Pant was the first choice, and Iyer was the second on the list. But later after the talks broke down, Prithvi Shaw became the second choice. Shaw, who grabbed headlines during India’s 2018 Under-19 World Cup win, was bought for Rs 1.2 crore in the same year’s auction.
