Inside the Papers of Pandora – The Financial Secrets of the Rich and Powerful

The financial secrets of some of the world’s richest and powerful people have been exposed after one of the biggest leaks of offshore data. Pandora Papers includes 35 current and former world leaders and over 300 public officials.

Guardian Paul Lewis says Michael Safdie How the project came about and months of work were put into publication by their investigative team. This is the latest offshore leak following previous global journalism collaborations on the Panama Papers and the Paradise Papers.

Deputy Business Editor of The Guardian, Juliet Garside, explains how former British colonial territories have used their legal jurisdiction in recent decades to attract companies and wealthy individuals to register as tax havens.

Chief Editor, Katherine Wiener, tells Michael that there is a clear public interest in publishing this latest investigation and uncovering the secrets of key politicians, at a time when many governments are raising taxes to fund efforts to recover from the pandemic.
