In conversation with Malala, Fawad assured that Pakistan would continue to encourage the education of Afghan women

Information and Broadcasting Minister Chaudhry Fawad Hussain said on Monday that Pakistan would continue its efforts to encourage women’s education in Afghanistan, as the war-torn country witnessed turmoil a day earlier.

The information minister’s remarks came during a telephonic conversation with Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai, radio pakistan Reported.

The situation in Afghanistan has worsened after the Taliban took over the country and President Ashraf Ghani fled to an undisclosed location.

The information minister told Malala that Pakistan is also providing education facilities to the children of Afghan refugees and about 6,000 Afghan children are studying in Pakistan.

Malala told Chaudhry about international concerns about women’s rights in Afghanistan and said that Pakistan should play an active role in promoting women’s education in Afghanistan.

Malala further said that she had also written a letter to Prime Minister Imran Khan in this regard.

PM Imran Khan said later today that Afghanistan has broken the shackles of slavery, referring to the developments in the neighboring country.

The Prime Minister said that it is very important to break the shackles of slavery. “A slave mind can never achieve anything great,” the premier said, explaining his vision behind it.

Earlier in the day, an Afghan Taliban spokesman announced that the war in the country had ended and said the group wanted peaceful relations with the world.
