Imran Khan says wherever he sees Pakistani rulers he will be called ‘thieves, traitors’

Lodhran: Wherever the Pakistani people see the leaders of the current government, they will be called ‘thieves and traitors’, PTI chairman Imran Khan warned the rulers on Monday.

Addressing a rally ahead of the July 17 bypolls in Punjab, Khan referred to the incident with Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Minister Ahsan Iqbal where he was beaten up and called a “thief”. Last week by supporters of PTI.

“You (Iqbal) say that Imran Khan has taught people to misbehave. Ahsan Iqbal, this is not indecency, it is the truth: you are a thief,” Khan said while taking a jibe at the federal minister.

A day earlier, the family, who called the federal minister at the fast-food restaurant, on Friday personally apologized to Iqbal at his residence, where he expressed “remorse and embarrassment”.

But later PTI blamed the PML-N for pressurizing the family to apologize to Iqbal. However, Osama Sher, a family member, said there was “no pressure” on her and she “voluntarily” apologized to the federal minister.

Khan added Jalsa That Iqbal and other PML-N leaders like him blindly follow party supremo Nawaz Sharif despite their “corruption”.

The PTI chairman claimed that after coming to power, the incumbent rulers “stolen” Rs 1,100 billion from the country – and they will continue to do so because they are “corrupt”.

“Wherever people see you, they will have two words on their lips: a thief and a traitor. You overthrew a government with the support of the United States,” the PTI chairman said.

The former prime minister alleged that people’s money in Sindh was “moved to Dubai in the name of politics”.

Khan further said that he has prepared cases against PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari and Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah. “I tried my best to punish these thieves,” he said.

He said Zardari and his “group” had not even made preparations before the rains hit the province.

Highlighting his party’s performance, Khan said, “They used to make fun of former Punjab chief minister Usman Buzdar, but in Lahore the water has not stagnated on the streets because of underground tanks.”

Heavy rains have claimed over a dozen lives in Karachi, with the country’s largest city receiving heavy rains today (Monday) as the metropolis’s streets were flooded.

‘Ensure victory’ in by-elections

Going ahead, the PTI president asked his party supporters to ensure that his candidates win the Punjab bypolls on July 17, which will determine the future of the province.

“No matter what they do or how much they rig the election, we must make sure that we” [PTI] Victory,” Khan told his supporters.

Twenty provincial constituencies have voted after the Election Commission of Pakistan evicted 25 MPAs for voting against party lines. Five of the 25 MLAs were on reserved seats and 20 on electable seats.

Political pundits expect a tough fight between opponents PML-N and PTI in the bypolls as most of the 20 MPs of PTI have stopped their wagons for PML-N.

It is pertinent to mention here that in the 2018 general elections, 10 out of 20 MPs who won the election contested as independent candidates and later joined PTI due to the efforts of businessman and politician, Jehangir Khan Tareen.
