If Dimple Kapadia said no, then Dil Chahta Hai: Thank you note for Farhan Akhtar’s cast, crew

Farhan Akhtar’s Dil Chahta Hai (DCH) completed 20 years of release on August 10. The film became a cult classic that has earned praise for its aesthetics, technical excellence and most importantly for its aesthetics. The nuances of relationships that it celebrated.

On Tuesday, the film’s director Farhan Akhtar, stars like Preity Zinta and others celebrated the 20th anniversary of the film. Later in the day, Farhan shared details about the film on his Twitter handle and thanked the cast and crew of his film.

In a tweet dedicated to Dimple Kapadia, Farhan said that if she does not agree to do DCH, she will have to “scrape” the film. Dimple played the character of Tara Jaiswal in the 2001 film.

Farhan also thanked Preeti Zinta For believing in his film and agreeing to do it long before the final draft of the film was ready.

Farhan then noted Sonali Kulkarni’s performance, calling her the ‘woh ladki hai kahan’ girl.

Farhan also took the opportunity to mark the beautiful friendship that marked his directorial debut. He mentioned Aamir Khanhandjob Saif Ali Khan and Akshaye Khanna who played Akash Malhotra, Sameer Moolchandani and Siddharth “Sid” Sinha respectively.

He also remembered and thanked the film’s crew, and wrote that he remembered Hassan Kutty, called him his colleague, teacher and thanked him for being “the best script and continuity supervisor”.

What stood out in DCH was not only the story and characters of the film, but also the beautiful music composed by Shankar-Ehsaan- Loy, lyrics and lyrics penned by Javed Akhtar.

Farhan, who stepped away from the director’s chair after directing Don 2 – The King is Back in 2011, is finally coming back to directing. On completing 20 years of Dil Chahta Hai, Farhan Akhtar gave a gift to his fans by announcing his directorial debut titled Jee Le Zara, a road trip film featuring Priyanka Chopra, Katrina Kaif and Alia Bhatt.

The film is touted as a fun all-female road trip which will go on floors early next year.
