Homeless in California: Americans forced to camp in the desert – Podcast

California is the richest of all 50 US states. With its billionaires lavish condos that line sunny beaches, Silicon Valley attracts the smartest people from around the world and makes them wealthy. But behind the incredible wealth lies a national disgrace. More than a million people are homeless.

as Guardian US reporter Sam Levin says Hannah Moore, It is now the number one political issue in the state. There are places to visit in the inner cities of San Francisco and Los Angeles to see people sleeping under bridges and in tents in parks. This is a situation that has worsened significantly in the pandemic.

At the peak of the crisis, there are now hideouts in the Mojave Desert for people who are largely asleep. As Sam points out, in the city of Lancaster, local authorities force homeless people to move beyond the city limits, leaving them with no choice but to set in the harsh conditions of the desert under the summer sun.
