Heavy to very heavy rain likely in Gujarat on December 1 and 2: IMD

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert (to be ready) for December 1 at Anand, Bharuch, Navsari, Valsad, Amreli and Bhavnagar and a yellow alert (to be seen) for December 2. has done. Unseasonal heavy to very heavy rainfall occurs in two days.

“The rain commencing from 30th November is due to a Fresh Active Western Disturbance (WD), which is likely to affect North-West and adjoining Central India from the night of 30th November. Mohanty said that due to unseasonal rains, farmers have been advised to take appropriate measures for their crops and standing crops.

“Due to the effect of this trough in mid-latitude westerly winds at mid- and upper-troposphere levels and high moisture infiltration associated with the system due to its possible interaction with lower level troughs in easterly winds, Gujarat is expected to receive rains during November. Likely from December 30 to December 2,” said the IMD’s alert issued on Sunday.

On November 30, while light to moderate thunderstorms with a speed of 40-60 kmph gusting to 40-60 kmph were observed over all districts of South Gujarat as well as Ahmedabad, Anand, Kheda, Panchmahal, Dahod, Surendranagar, Rajkot. Moderate rain is expected. Porbandar, Junagadh, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Gir Somnath, Botad and Diu.

However, very heavy rain is expected on December 1 in districts of Gujarat including Anand, Bharuch, Navsari, Valsad, Surat, Dang and Tapi of Saurashtra districts, including Amreli, Junagadh, Gir Somnath, Botad and Bhavnagar, Panchmahal, Dahod, Chhota Udaipur. Also, Thunderstorm, Lightning and Surface Wind with 40-60 kmph (Growth) is expected.

According to the IMD, there is a possibility of heavy rainfall in Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Aravalli, Mahisagar, Dang and Tapi districts on December 2. A warning has been issued for fishermen along the north Gujarat coast including Jakhau, Mandvi (Kutch), Mundra, New Kandla, Navlakhi, Jamnagar, Salaya, Okha and Porbandar.

“Gust gusting to 60 kmph gusting to 40-50 kmph very likely over north Gujarat coast and adjoining northeast Arabian Sea from November 30 to December 2,” the Meteorological Department said.

The fishermen have been issued for the same period for “the original Dwarka, Veraval, Diu, Jaffrabad, Pipavav, Victor, Bhavnagar, Alang, Bharuch, Dahej, Magdalla and the south Gujarat coast of Daman”.
