Heavy rains have caused water logging in many parts of Punjab

Heavy rains since Saturday night led to waterlogging in many parts of Bathinda on Sunday, leading to the celebration of ‘Raksha Bandhan’.

Several lanes of Power House Road, Civil Lines area, Sirki Bazar etc. were flooded with water up to 4.5 feet, causing a lot of inconvenience to the commuters.

A total of 81 mm of rain was recorded on Saturday night and Sunday morning. On Sunday, the vehicle of Bathinda Deputy Mayor Master Harmander Singh drowned in the water accumulated on Power House Road.

In some areas, the water level started receding from 1 am, but low-lying areas like Sirki Bazar, Paras Ram Colony were waterlogged till the time of writing the news.

Bathinda is no stranger to waterlogging during the rains. Local residents say that they have been facing this problem for the last three decades.
The only difference is that the water has started depleting faster than in previous years.
