Hanuman Chalisa controversy: Rana couple got anticipatory bail in second FIR

MLA couple Naveen and Ravi Rana A special court had on Tuesday granted anticipatory bail in connection with a FIR A case has been registered against him for resisting arrest and obstructing the police.

In April, the police had visited Khar residence of the then Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray after the announcement of reciting Hanuman Chalisa at his private residence.

The special court said that in case of arrest, the couple should be released on personal bond.

It also placed other conditions on them, including that they would cooperate in the investigation, would not make any direct or indirect inducement or threat to any person connected with the case and would not commit such offense again.

MP Navneet Rana and MLA Ravi Rana was arrested in connection with another FIR lodged by Mumbai Police in April rebellion, He was granted bail by the sessions court in the first case. A second FIR was registered against him after he allegedly stopped the police from arresting him.

Last month, the police had filed a charge sheet against them in the second FIR. It was submitted that the investigation has been completed and his custody is not required, hence he should be granted anticipatory bail.
