Had the privilege to coach and interact with amazingly talented cricketers: R Sridhar

India’s outgoing fielding coach R Sridhar considers himself extremely fortunate to have coached and interacted with “amazingly talented cricketers” and said that every mistake was a learning experience along the way.

Head coach Ravi Shastri, bowling coach Bharat Arun and Sridhar will leave at the end of the T20 World Cup.

“I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to interact with the coach and the amazingly talented cricketers and help them utilize their full potential. I foster lasting relationships and create memories that I will cherish for a lifetime and so forth,” wrote Sridhar on his Instagram page.

Sridhar, a former left-arm spinner from Hyderabad, said that he has completed what he had set out to do.

“I believe that I have completed my work with passion, sincere commitment and to the best of my abilities. Yes, there were occasional mistakes but every mistake was exploited to make the team a better place.

Sridhar thanked his boss, head coach Shastri as well as all the captains he worked with.

“As I move on to my last assignment as the fielding coach of the Indian cricket team, I would like to thank the BCCI for allowing me to serve the Indian cricket team from 2014 to 2021.

“Special thanks to Ravi Shastri Adhikari, an inspiring leader and mentor to whom I am indebted. Big thanks to the captains also Mahi7781 (Dhoni) and Virat Kohli For placing your trust, faith and trust in me.

“I would also like to acknowledge the support of the stand-in captains Ajinkya Rahane, Rohit Sharma, all the players, coach Anil Kumble, Sanjay Bangar, Vikram Rathor, especially senior coach Bharat Arun, from whom I learned a lot and all the other support staff to make this journey wonderful.
