Gujarat Congress chief says if BJP government identifies all families of Kovid victims, it will be exposed

Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President Jagdish Thakor questioned this on Wednesday. Bharatiya Janata Party‘s (BJPlack of intention to identify all families of COVID-19 Distributing the victims and ex-gratia money, saying that if the government did so, they would “be uncovered”.

In his first media briefing after being appointed as the GPCC chief, Thakor said, “Despite lakhs of people dying due to lack of facilities, lack of oxygen, lack of medicines, the government has till date accepted (for its folly). Doesn’t want to. … Government is constantly hiding the figures… of deaths, of testing…”

Claims that during Congress justice TravelWhile party workers met around one lakh families who lost one person to Covid, Thakor said, “We got three lakh deaths (due to Covid) in Gujarat and the government does not want to accept it till date. And they continue Let’s say there were just 10,000 deaths… Today you see 22,000 claims (for ex-gratia) have been approved and more are in the pipeline. The government has no intention of giving compensation.”

The GPCC President further said, “Against the ex-gratia amount of Rs 4 lakh under the National Disaster Management Act, they have decided to pay Rs 50,000… to the Hon’ble (Supreme) Court repeatedly to the Government of Gujarat (of compensation). To pay)…Bharatiya Janata Party has no system till date to give relief to the people…You have applause, You have Gram Sevak, You have Village Sevak for facility to fill claim form There is an existing system… why can’t you collect the details of all the deceased by calling a gram sabha in each village… There is a system, an existing system, which is capable of collecting the necessary details of all the dead in two hours, Gujarat By arranging gram sabhas on a day in every panchayat in all the villages of the state… then why not do it? It is because when this information comes you will be exposed…”

“This is an issue of the poor. Despite spending lakhs, people could not save their family members… If no mechanism is made to provide relief to the next of kin of the deceased, in the coming days we will arrange for the President of India to meet their families. The deceased… We demand that accurate death figures be provided and relief to all the dead.”

Claiming that the Congress would go to villages and wards to aid in relief, Thakor said, “Let the government prove that these figures (of three lakh deaths) are wrong… to the BJP health minister from a stage at Manek Chowk. Answer the questions… An open ground for open discussion… I am presenting an open challenge… We have identified the families of the dead and we will move from taluka level to Rashtrapati Bhavan so that they get compensation. ..we got 48,000 forms along with the deceased details during our justice journey.”
