Guelph Community Foundation and United Way partner to distribute pandemic recovery funding – Guelph | globalnews.ca

A new stream of funding is available for charities and non-profits in Guelph and the surrounding region.

The Guelph Community Foundation is working closely with United Way Guelph Wellington Dufferin in distributing funds locally through the Community Services Recovery Fund.

The federal government is providing a $400 million one-time investment to help communities across Canada recover from COVID-19 Epidemic.

The Guelph Community Foundation will oversee the $475,000, said Chris Willard, GCF executive director. “It will typically go in the amount of between $10,000 and $200,000.”

The money can be used to provide service, purchase necessary equipment such as computers, provide support for staff and volunteers, etc.

“It aims to modernize and respond to the needs of charities and non-profits,” Willard said. “They can recover, adapt and adjust after the pandemic to support communities across Canada.”

“Charities and non-profit organizations have shown impressive stamina and creativity in responding to the diverse and increasingly challenging needs of their communities,” Glenna Banda, executive director of UWGWD, said in a statement. “We want to thank the Government of Canada for this important investment in the community service sector.”

Applications are now being accepted for the Community Service Recovery Fund. Organizations willing to apply may go to csrf website, Each of the three national partners (Canadian Red Cross, Community Foundations of Canada and United Way Centre) will provide funding for specific areas.

“The Glaf Community Foundation grant will be specifically targeted to support the systems and processes and help focus the inner workings of the overall structure of the organization,” Willard said.

The Red Cross will cover the areas of recruitment and retention, while the United Way will focus on the adoption and creation of new programs.
