1963 – Bing Crosby gets the first lifetime Achievement Award,

1971 – Andy Williams Hollywood hosts the first live Grammy Awards to be broadcast at the Palladium.

1973 – Grammy Hall of Fame is installed.

1983 – Music Videos category has been added.

1984 – The reggae category has been added.

1987 – New Age category has been added.

1988 – Rap category has been added.

1988 – Grammy Foundation is installed.

1990 – Optional category is added.

1993 – The Recording Academy opens its new national headquarters in Santa Monica, Calif.

1997 – Latin Recording Academy is installed.
