ISLAMABAD: In a bid to bring down the political temperature, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah on Wednesday submitted a dialogue proposal to PTI President Imran Khan to fix the date for the next general election in the country.

It is pertinent to mention here that Imran Khan says that PTI will not stop its anti-government agitation till the date of the next general election is announced. However, the current government had earlier ruled out mid-term elections and said it would complete its term.

Contrary to the government’s previous stand, Rana Sanaullah, in an interview with a private TV, advised Imran Khan to sit together and resolve the issues through dialogue.

Sanaullah said, “Be it in October or after that, these things can be sorted out.”

“The PML-N was ready to hold early elections instead of raising petroleum prices before Imran Khan’s May 25 ultimatum,” the home minister said. He said Khan’s undemocratic behavior forced the ruling coalition not to hold early elections on the demand of PTI.

The interior minister said that no long march towards Islamabad can go on without the approval of the government or the Supreme Court.

Criticizing the previous PTI government, he said that Imran Khan ignored the opposition during his 3.5-year tenure, and when his government was toppled, Khan says he does not accept the current coalition government.

“Imran Khan has not been named in ECL for now. He has committed crimes and he has proof of it. They should be arrested,” said the interior minister.

He said that the bribe received by Farah Khan (Gogi) is being investigated, who is a close friend of the former first lady.
