LONDON: Domestic flights from Papua New Guinea airport were canceled on Thursday due to a fuel shortage.

Puma Energy, the country’s sole gasoline supplier, said a shortage of foreign currency had resulted in restrictions on fuel supplies, leaving thousands of travelers stranded.

Foreign currencies like the US dollar are used in the international market to buy A1 jet fuel used in the aviation industry.
