Former IAF officer struggled to register land ownership for more than 25 years, now his son starts digital campaign

An 82-year-old former Indian Air Force officer has been trying unsuccessfully to get a Khata (title of land) registered in his name for 25 years and his son has now, as a last attempt, took to social media to attract Is. Pay attention to the matter

Krishnamurthy S, a war veteran, acquired half an acre of land in 1995 from a private individual in Vaderahalli village in north Bengaluru. After the sale deed was registered with the sub-registrar’s office, he failed to register the title to the land. Name. He wandered from door to door to spend his life savings on touts and agents who promised to get the documents registered.

In 2017, his son Mohan K moved the Karnataka High Court, which, in turn, directed the office of the Deputy Commissioner (DC), Bengaluru, to review and decide the matter. The November 2017 order said, “It is also clarified that if any inquiry is required to be initiated in the matter, the concerned authorities are directed to initiate the same within four weeks from today and It will be abolished within six months.”

Still the matter is pending in DC office. Krishnamurthy later developed Parkinson’s disease and was unable to pursue the case.

Meanwhile some local people have occupied the land. talking to Indian ExpressMohan said: “Over the past one year, a review of revenue records and the Revenue Court Case Monitoring System (RCCMS) shows that in Vaderahalli some similar cases have been adjudicated and accounted for by the authorities. There is no update on the Krishnamurthy case. Meanwhile some locals have taken over the land and removed the roof of the shed marking the property and are also using it as a buffalo shelter.

Mohan claimed that the agents approached him asking for 10-15 per cent of the “current market value” of the land so that the matter could be decided by the revenue authorities and the account could be registered. “All this makes me wonder whether there are any honest officers in the revenue department,” he remarked.

Mohan has now launched a social media campaign highlighting the issue with a petition on change.org. In the past few days, the campaign has garnered nearly 500 signatures in support. In the petition, Revenue Minister R Ashok has been requested to direct the officials of Bengaluru DC office to review the matter at the earliest.

“The registration is pending for almost 25 years due to some technical reason, which the officials have not been able to clarify. Please ask the DC office officials to review the matter and take a decision at the earliest. After all justice delayed is justice denied,” he pleaded.
