Broward County School Board member Sarah Leonardi shared on social media photos of a group of children from Wilton Manors Elementary School in Fort Lauderdale at Rosie’s Bar and Grill, a well-known LGBT hangout.

‘I was so honored to be invited to a field trip to Wilton Manors Elementary for the incredible Rosie! The students and I had a fun walk and learned a lot about our community! Commentators quickly questioned whether the bar, gay or not, was a place to take young children on a field trip in the first place.

‘Whether it’s a gay bar or not….it’s a bar!! Why are the kids going on a field trip to a bar?!?!,” posted a Twitter user.

‘I assume that their field trips like our field trip will have to submit a request with details of the trip as well as educational value. That being said… it was unfair and many people including those who sanctioned it should be held accountable,’ wrote another.
