“We’ve told her countless times, don’t answer the door, there’s no need to answer the door,” said the father, whose identity Global News agreed to protect.

The 13-year-old boy was home alone on Saturday afternoon when a man and woman arrived at the front door and knocked several times.

Eventually, the boy opens the door and the video shows the pair going inside immediately.

It appears that the man was holding a sharp instrument.

The woman can be heard saying, “Hi! Is your mother there?” And suggestively he asked her to come home.

Meanwhile, the boy’s parents, who were both outside, received information on their mobile phones from an app linked to the home security system.

“I’m watching it live and I’m trying to have a three-way conversation through this technology that we installed in our house. But at this point, they’re already inside the house,” said the father .

He was working outside the home and his wife was at their daughter’s dance class.

“I was watching this and I was horrified by what was happening and what was happening, how clever they are,” said the father, “I was distraught and my wife was watching this on the other end and she was trying to Was scared of To contact my son, who was in dire straits.”

The family called 9-1-1 and rushed home.

“My son was taken hostage in his own house by a criminal,” he said.

The boy told his father that after coming inside the house, he felt that the couple was not good. The boy saw what looked like a screwdriver in the man’s hands, so he told them that his mother was in the basement and father was in the backyard.

“She was blindsided by what the female companion was doing, which was basically trying to grasp anything (within reach), and sure enough, she had seen a laptop and was asking us with it. Glad to have participated as there was no other physicality that happened,” said the father.

Within minutes the couple left the house.

Toronto Police attended and are investigating.

The homeowner is sharing this story in the hopes that others will have an important conversation with their children about opening the door to strangers.

,(It) was painful, but it is an eye-opener,” said the homemaker. “I’m glad nothing happened to (my son).”

He is also relieved that he decided to install an outdoor security camera just two weeks before the incident.
