Faisalabad attack case: CCTV footage to be made part of investigation

LAHORE: Police said on Wednesday that CCTV footage would be included in the probe into the filming of four women stripped off a market in Faisalabad.

Five of the 10 suspects were reportedly involved to attack They had already been arrested after accusing the women who picked up the garbage of theft. CCTV footage of a shop viral on social media websites shows women entering the shop and picking up something. However, a man standing in the shop tried to stop a woman and after failing to stop, he came out of the shop.

Later the man tried to lock the shop but the women resisted and came out of the shop where the man grabbed two of the four women and beat them up and saw the others in the CCTV footage.

This revealed that the women were unbuttoning their clothes and two others tried to run away but were later caught by the mob. The video also showed women taking off their clothes in front of a crowd and one of them crying in the shop while the other was dragged into the shop by the men.

Faisalabad city police officer Dr Abid Khan told dawn That new footage of the incident was included in the investigation. He said the incident of women being stripped would also be included in the investigation.

On Monday, a woman lodged a complaint with the Millat Town police station that she was collecting solid waste at Bawa Chak Market in Yusuf Chowk around 10.30 am with her three female companions, when she felt thirsty and was inside a shop. Went to the Osman Electric Store – owned by Saddam – and asked for a bottle of water.

He said the owner alleged that they entered his shop to steal money and electronic equipment. He called other shopkeepers and helpers and assaulted them. He said, ‘Suspects also took them off their clothes and dragged them to the market.

Later, the police arrested five named suspects, who were produced before the court, which handed over the suspect to the police on physical remand.
