Even with Ukraine deal, world grain supply tight

Just as Russian gas is starting to flow Back in Europe, stranded Ukrainian grain should soon return to world export markets. Poor countries will get some relief, but perhaps not as much as they would like.

Friday’s Agreement between Ukraine and RussiaBrokerage by the United Nations and Turkey means grain trapped in Ukrainian silos can find a safe passage through the Black Sea. Roughly 20 million tonnes of stored wheat and other grains need to move out of the country in the coming months, along with Ukraine’s winter wheat crop, which is now being harvested.
