EU says talks on Iran nuclear deal will resume on November 29

The European Union announced on Wednesday that it is looking to revive talks between world powers and Iran. Troubled 2015 Iran nuclear deal Will resume in Vienna on 29 November.

The European Union said high-level officials from Iran, China, France, Russia, Germany and Britain would participate in the so-called Joint Comprehensive Action Planning Commission meeting.

“Participants will continue to discuss the possibility of a possible withdrawal of the United States to the JCPOA and how to ensure the full and effective implementation of the agreement by all parties,” it said in a statement.

The purpose of the JCPOA was to curb Iran’s nuclear activity in exchange for the lifting of crippling sanctions. The US pulled out of the deal under former President Donald Trump and reimposed sanctions on Iran.

European nations have tried to get the United States back into the nuclear deal, but their efforts have so far been thwarted by Tehran’s reluctance to resume formal talks that included parts of the 2015 deal. would include reopening.

US President Joe Biden and European leaders last week criticized Tehran for what it saw as a quick and provocative nuclear move as Iran continues to enrich uranium to near-weapons-grade levels.
