England vs South Africa 3rd Test match postponed after Queen Elizabeth’s death – India Times English News

Cricket chiefs announced that Friday’s play in the third Test between England and South Africa at the Oval will not take place following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

England and Wales Cricket The Board (ECB) said in a statement that updates “will be provided in due course”.

Thursday’s first day in London was washed out without a single ball being bowled. The three-match series is tied at 1-1.

“Following the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Friday’s game between the men of England and South Africa at The Oval (women’s domestic) Rachel Hayhoe Flint Trophy will not have all scheduled matches,” the ECB said in a statement.

“For fixtures beyond Friday, updates will be provided in due course.”

The first day of the third and deciding Test between England and South Africa at The Oval was washed out on Thursday with no play possible.

England won the toss and called to bat only for South Africa to take a shower and put the proceedings on hold a few minutes before the players took the field.

A disappointing day of turning the covers on and off before an official announcement came at 15.45GMT that no play would be possible.

More rain is forecast in London on Friday, although the prospects for the weekend look better.

The series is level 1-1, with both tests finished within three days. South Africa won the first innings at Lord’s by 12 runs and lost by an innings and 85 runs in the second at Old Trafford.
