England have recalled fit wicketkeeper Ben Foakes for the first Test against South Africa at Lord’s starting on Wednesday.

England captain Ben Stokes announced the return of Surrey wicketkeeper Fox to the XI during a media conference on Tuesday.

Fox is the only change from the losing team India The fifth Test at Edgbaston was postponed last month after missing the match following a case of the coronavirus.

Fox takes the glove back from Kent’s Sam Billings.

There is no room for Ollie Robinson, as the Sussex pacers are unable to find their place in the team, which boasts of a pace attack from James Anderson, Stuart Broad and Matthew Potts, complemented by all-rounder Stokes.

Robinson has not played for England since the final Test of the Ashes series in January.

His career has been marred by fitness issues, but he impressed during England Lions’ second win over South Africa at Canterbury last week.
