In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter along with Canadian actor and comedian Nathan Fielder, Stone said, “That would be pretty coolWill be called Emily instead of Emma.

“I would like to be Emily,” Stone admitted.

The interview was to promote the A24 TV satire drama cursewhich follows newlyweds Whitney (Stone) and Asher Siegel (Fielder) as they film a reality show about bringing their eco-conscious homes to Española, NM.

Created by Fielder, 40, and Benny Safdie, 38, curse Fielder’s signature kind of quirky tension builds to keep the audience on edge as Whitney and Asher deal with marital issues, struggle to get along with the locals of Española, and become obsessed with a curse that May or may not be real.

During the interview, Fielder said he would refer to the 35-year-old Stone as Emily.

“Before we go any further, I would like to say something. Her name is Emily, but she’s known professionally as Emma,” Fielder explained. “So, when there are people who don’t know her, I end up calling her Emma. But I’m just from here I would say Emily.

Stone then told the interviewer, “You can say Emma. You can say anything.”

She said that when she “gets to know people” they call her Emily instead of Emma.

He revealed that Fielder often calls him “M”.

“It’s just because my name was taken [by another actor in the Screen Actors Guild], Stone explained. “Then a few years ago I got nervous. For some reason, I was like, ‘I can’t do this anymore. Just call me Emily.”

(The Screen Actors Guild does not allow a registered member to have the same name as another actor already in the union.)

When asked if Fielder always called him Nathan, Stone jokingly replied that she calls the actor by “his favorite name”, which is “Big Nate”.

In-spite of this curseAfter the unconventional ending, both Stone and Fielder said they could potentially continue the show into the next season.

During 2018 appearance The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Stone said her stage name was inspired By Spice Girls member Emma Bunton, also known as “Baby Spice”.

Stone said with a laugh, “So, growing up I was very blonde, and my real name is Emily, but I wanted to be called Emma because of Baby Spice and now I am.”
