Economists polled by the Wall Street Journal expect to see the survey’s index fall slightly in June. The survey’s reading of near-term expectations for future business conditions fell to its lowest point on record in May.

The US consumer-price index for June will offer a key inflation reading ahead of the Federal Reserve’s July 26-27 meeting. Economists polled have estimated that inflation has picked up in June, both before and from June of last year. CPI up 8.6% In the year that ended in May, the fastest pace in more than four decades.
