Dummy candidate arrested at SRPF exam center

Pune city police on Sunday arrested a youth for appearing as a dummy candidate in place of his brother in the recruitment examination of the State Reserve Police Force (SRPF).

Police have identified the accused as Vishal Gabrusingh Bahur (25), a resident of Jodwadi in Aurangabad.

Anup Pawar, the superintendent of the examination center, has lodged an FIR at Hadapsar police station. Police have registered a case against Vishal and his brother Bharatsinh under sections 419, 420, 468, 471, 511, 188, 34 of the Indian Penal Code and the Prevention of Maharashtra University, Board and Other Specific Examinations Act, 1982.

Police said Bharatsinh was a candidate for the SRPF exam. But, in his place, his brother Vishal came to the examination center of SM Joshi College in Hadapsar. After his arrest, Vishal confirmed that he was posing as a dummy candidate for his brother. During the search, a Bluetooth device was found from his possession.

“His brother Bharat Singh is yet to be arrested. Vishal was produced in the court today. The court has sent him to four-day police custody. Further investigation is on,” said an official.
