Driver arrested in fatal hit and run on Indian Road in Norfolk County: OPP | globalnews.ca

An arrest has been made following a hit-and-run earlier this week in Norfolk County, Ontario. pedestrian dead.

The accident happened just before 5 a.m. Tuesday near Indian Road at 2 Townsend Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

Police say the pedestrian was hit by a vehicle and was seriously injured. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he was later declared brought dead.

According to the police, the vehicle involved in the accident could not stop on the spot.

Later that day, police released details of the vehicle they were involved in and asked members of the public to be on the lookout for a white Volkswagen Atlas SUV which had extensive front-end damage.

Just after 12 noon on Friday, police said the driver involved in the accident is believed to have been arrested.

Police said officers executed a search warrant at an address on David Street in Hagersville, which is about a 40-minute drive southwest of Hamilton.

One person was taken into custody and a motor vehicle was impounded without incident.

Jermaine O’Rain Sibliss, 39, of Haldimand County, has been charged with failing to stop in an accident that resulted in death.

He is set to appear at the Simcoe Courthouse on Friday afternoon.
