New Delhi: The NIA, which is probing the cyber attack on AIIMS 10 days ago, has taken the main server of the hospital with it for investigation. Along with the NIA, another agency of the Ministry of Home Affairs is also involved in its investigation. According to sources, there are more than 50 servers in AIIMS, which are being investigated, but the main server has been taken to the NIA for investigation. Scanning of other servers is in progress.

It is not yet completely clear whether an international hacker is involved or the handiwork of a novice hacker. On the other hand, work is underway on what kind of server should be there to bring the online system of AIIMS back on track and such incidents do not happen again. It is being told that all the data of AIIMS is available in the server installed in the Dental Center of AIIMS. But right now it is not being uploaded because antivirus is being installed in all computers and scanning is also being done.

The server will be provided by DRDO to AIIMS. Initially five to 10 servers and then some other servers will also be given by DRDO to AIIMS. The investigating agency is also preparing to interrogate those people who were responsible for handling the online system of AIIMS till updating the system from time to time.

Data activated again on Tuesday
The data of Delhi AIIMS’s e-hospital is back on the server on Tuesday after being held by hackers for seven days. Although right now work is being done manually here. The server of Delhi AIIMS is down since 23rd November. It is being told that it was hacked. There was news on Monday that hackers had demanded Rs 200 crore from Delhi AIIMS. Before starting it, a high-level meeting was held in the Union Home Ministry on Tuesday. It included officers from IB, NIA, Police, NIC and AIIMS.

Hackers demanded Rs 200 crore in cryptocurrency

Those who hacked the server of the country’s largest government hospital AIIMS Delhi have demanded Rs 200 crore. Hackers have asked to pay in cryptocurrency. News agency ANI had claimed this by quoting sources. However, the Delhi Police denied that any ransom demand was made.

The server was hacked by a ransomware attack on 23 November
AIIMS server was hacked on November 23 due to a ransomware attack. Due to this the services of the hospital are getting badly affected. Patients coming to the OPD and IPD of the hospital are facing difficulties in getting treatment. Digital services like online appointment booking and teleconsultation were also affected due to the server outage. However, all these services are being run manually.

The complete cleaning of the network is likely to take another 5 days. After this, e-hospital services can be started. Services like OPD, Emergency, In Patient Laboratory etc. are being continued on manual mode.

In AIIMS, at 6.45 am, a complaint is being received from the computer center of the Emergency Lab about not receiving the reports of the patients. After this, some similar calls start coming from the billing center and the department as well. When the NIC team investigated, it was found that all the files were not opening on the main server.

When the team first tried to restore the files through the backup system, it was discovered that it too had been compromised. Then on further investigation it was found that the extension ie e-address keeping the file in the cloud has also been changed. Cyber ​​attack has been confirmed. For this, the help of the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) was also taken.

Scanning work of 20 out of 50 servers completed
The scanning work of 20 out of 50 servers of AIIMS has been completed. The team of experts is working round the clock for the sanitization work of the remaining servers. NIC e-hospital database and application server for e-hospital have been restored. Antivirus system is being fed again in 5000 systems.

Case registered on 25 November
The Delhi Police had registered a case of extortion and cyber terrorism in this matter on November 25. Internet services on computers in the hospital have been suspended on the recommendation of investigative agencies. AIIMS servers store data of many VIPs including former prime ministers, ministers, senior officers, judges.

3 lakh cyber attacks every month in the country
According to a recent report by IndusFace, there are about 3 lakh cyber attacks on the healthcare sector in India every month. These are the second most cyber attacks in the world. There are about half a million cyber attacks on the US health sector every month.
