DoorDash driver in custody after allegedly shooting employee at Philadelphia Chick-fil-A

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) – Police have taken a DoorDash driver into custody after shooting a Chick-fil-A employee in the Crescentville section of Philadelphia on Monday night.

The shooting took place after 8 p.m. in the 800 block of Adams Street. Police said it happened outside Chick-fil-A, which only takes orders online.

According to the police, the firing apparently started over a missing milkshake.

Captain John Walker of Philadelphia Police said, “(The employee) asks to see the receipt and the occupant of the car refuses to show the receipt. He then sees the driver of the vehicle pulling out the gun and holding it on his lap.” Department.

Walker said a team leader and a manager went outside to try to defuse the situation.

After a while the driver backed out but returned after firing a shot. Police said he hit the 17-year-old team leader in the leg.

The suspect reportedly took off and made a short chase of officers before leaving the white Mercedes Benz.

Investigators said the accused has been arrested and the victim has identified him.

The suspect’s name has not yet been released as police said he has yet to be charged. Officials said that they have already had contact with the police.

The victim was taken to Einstein Medical Center and kept in stable condition.

Police are still looking for the gun used in the shooting and another person, who they believe was in the car at the time of the incident.

A DoorDash spokesperson issued a statement on Tuesday saying they were “shocked” by the violence.

“We are horrified and shocked by this ruthless act of violence, and we have banned the perpetrator from our platform. We are fully supporting law enforcement with their investigation and hope justice will be served. We have reached out to the victim to offer their support, and our thoughts are with him and his family as he recovers.”
