Jordan Mattingly, 30, was arrested on Monday in Evansville, about 170 miles southwest of Indianapolis, after police said he hit his vehicle on the Lloyd Expressway on a median road, reports the Evansville Courier and Press. crashed in. Soon after, another witness said he saw Mattingly enter a Honda dealership, where he was described as a “super drunk” according to the affidavit.

A man who followed Mattingly to a D-Patrick Honda dealership overheard him telling sales staff that he wanted to “sell this piece of crap,” Fox 59 reported, The police reached to find the vehicle missing the front tire.

Mattingly, who suffered minor injuries, told officers that he was at the dealership to sell his car and buy a new car. He claimed he had only “one drink”, the affidavit said.

Mattingly told officers it was the result of his vehicle hitting a pothole a few days earlier.

Mattingly later admitted to drinking “a lot” when police told him the results of his breath analyzer test, but claimed he never crashed his car on his way to the dealership.

Fox 59 reported that police searched the car and found an open four loco compartment as well as several other open coaches.

He was charged with two counts of drunken driving, one count of public drunkenness, and refusing to submit to a chemical test.

His father, Don Mattingly, has been the head coach of the Marlins since 2015.
