Las Vegas Raiders head coach Josh McDaniels said he didn’t feel the need to give Longtime Starter Derek Carey A heads-up before Colin Kaepernick’s workout.
After bringing the 34-year-old free-agent quarterback in for a workout Wednesday, which reportedly impressed the Raiders, the coach insisted the team still holds Carr.
“I think Derek is quite comfortable with where he is,” McDaniels told reporters on Thursday, “I think he knows who he is to us and I know he knows how I feel about him, how we feel about him. I don’t think so for Derek at the moment It’s really a big deal.”
Carr, 31, signed a three-year, $121.5 million extension this year, and he continues as the team’s starting quarterback. The Raiders were reportedly looking to see if Kaepernick would be a good fit A quarterback in the room that also includes Jarrett Stidham and Nick Mullens.

McDaniels declined to say Thursday whether the team would sign Kaepernick, who last played in the NFL in 2016, the same year he took a knee during the national anthem to protest racial injustice.

The coach said during his press conference that he would not question the players who are not currently in the team.
“We brought in a lot of people to workout,” McDaniel said. “We said from day one that we would look at every opportunity, and he’s not the first player we looked at and not the last.”
“So there will be a lot of people who are going to come in and out of this building and have an opportunity to make an impression,” Koch said. “What we evaluate is private to us and we will do it if we decide to add someone to the team.”
