Delhi Football Club on Wednesday won the Shaheed Bhagat Singh Football Cup 2022 organized by the Kejriwal government. The winners of the cup were felicitated by Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia at Thyagaraj Stadium.

José María Radao Dominíquez, Spanish Ambassador and Deputy Head of Mission Elena Párez Villanueva also joined the Deputy Chief Minister in the closing ceremony of the Football Cup. The other guests of honor at the ceremony were Commonwealth Games 2022 medalist wrestler Ravi Dahiya and athlete Tejaswin Shankar along with Kasturba Nagar MLA Madan Lal.
Addressing the footballers and sports enthusiasts at the stadium, Sisodia said, “I congratulate the teams for their excellent performance throughout the tournament.” In the last one month, the government organized football events at its various sports facilities, Thyagaraj Stadium, East Vinod Nagar. Play Complex, Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, Bawana, Pitampura Artificial Football Turf and Sudeva Football Ground to instill the passion of football among the athletes across Delhi.

“The enthusiasm at the stadium today is proof that Delhi is poised to become the leader of football in the future,” he said, adding that various top clubs from Delhi participated in the mega-tournament, which competed in a round-robin league format.
