Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo will not travel with the team for their pre-season tour of Thailand and Australia after being given time off to deal with a family issue, a Premier League club source said on Thursday.
The 37-year-old Portuguese’s future at Old Trafford has been the subject of intense speculation as he has reportedly told the club about his desire to leave to play in the Champions League next season.

However, the source said the Portugal international, who has one year left on his contract, is not up for sale.
United’s tour begins in Bangkok on 12 July ahead of Melbourne Victory and Crystal Palace’s match against Liverpool. They will also face Aston Villa in Perth on 23 July.
It is not clear when Ronaldo will join the squad.
Ronaldo scored 24 goals in all competitions for United last season as they finished sixth in the league and missed out on Champions League qualification.
They began the new campaign at home against Brighton & Hove Albion on 7 August in manager Erik ten Haag’s first competitive game in charge.
