CR Patil rules out possibility of early assembly elections in Gujarat

Gujarat BJP President CR Patil on Monday ruled out going ahead with the Gujarat Assembly elections as well as in five other states – Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur – where elections are due early next year.

Patil was replying to a question during an interaction with reporters at the party’s national executive meeting held on November 7.

Patil said, “There is no such possibility. Elections to five states will be held on their scheduled dates. Gujarat elections will be held as scheduled in December.

Responding to another question whether inflation will be a big challenge for the BJP in the upcoming assembly elections, Patil said, “Many steps are being taken by the central government to control inflation and the state government is also following it.” . In the context of increase in petrol prices, between Rs 12 and Rs 17 have been cut in the Center and BJP-ruled states. But, AAP’s Kejriwal (government) in Congress ruled states and Delhi did not do this. They were demanding the same from others, but themselves are not doing it. His true image is becoming clear…”

Patil also said that after the national executive, the Gujarat BJP’s state executive meeting will be held at the party headquarters here on November 17.
