Covid surge: Haryana announces night curfew from December 25 to January 5

The Haryana government announced night curfew in the state from December 25 to January 5 – a development that seeks to stem the rise in Covid cases during the holiday season in the state.

The order came after a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Friday.

The order states that the curfew timings will be from 11 pm to 5 am.

The order also places limits on gatherings. Both indoor and open gatherings can only hold up to 50 percent of their capacity, with a limit of 200 people for indoor gatherings and 300 for outdoor gatherings. COVID-19 mandates like masks and social distancing should be strictly followed.

The organizers of such events should ensure that only fully immunized people attend them.

The order also said that “no mask-no service” will be strictly followed across the state, which means only people with face masks will be allowed on public or private transport or any other government and private establishment. will be allowed to enter.

It has been said in the order that the new rules will be applicable from 5 am on December 25 to 5 in the morning of January 5.

A Haryana government statement quoting Chief Minister Manohar Lal said that from January 1, both the doses of vaccination have been made mandatory for admission in all institutions belonging to the public sector.

This comes a day after Health Minister Anil Vij announced that the state was banning unvaccinated people from public places from January 1.

Several states have banned New Year’s celebrations and parties fearing a rise in COVID-19 cases. The mandate comes at a time when experts say the country is witnessing a third wave of Covid-19 cases behind a new highly-contagious Covid variant, Omicron.
