Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) is executing this project. The building will be built in Wadala area at an estimated cost of Rs 1,810 crore.

Officials said the building will also have a training center and an auditorium where training programs for officers and employees will be conducted.

“The work on the GST building will be completed in the next three years and MSRDC will soon lay the foundation stone for the project,” an official said.

With the construction of the new GST building, 250 trees will be felled and transplanted. In the meeting of the Tree Authority held last year, the proposal to cut trees for the project was approved.

MSRDC had earlier said that it would plant twice as many trees to make up for the number of trees that have been cut.
