JACKSON COUNTY, MO (KCTV) – A father tragically drowned on Longview Lake yesterday morning while he was trying to help his children in the water.

“I mean, it was just… I still cry… I still cry for him,” says Jeanine Battaglio, a family friend of the victim.

Bataglio was in tears as she talked about her co-worker and friend she had lost to the father of her children.

“He was a wonderful father, a wonderful companion. He took care of his family,” Battaglio says.

Even until his death, 38-year-old Christopher Foster was taking care of his family.

The Missouri Highway Patrol says Foster, his two children and his mother were out on the lake yesterday morning.

Witnesses told police that Foster jumped into the water to drag his children closer to the boat when they started drifting, but he never came again.

“His children were everything, he used to lean back. He worked two jobs and was doing everything he could to support his family,” Battaglio says.

As the family tries to deal with the tragedy, members of the Battaglio and Price Chopper family – where the mother of Foster’s children work – are now doing everything they can to support them.
