Collingwood OPP arrest man in child porn investigation – Barrie | globalnews.ca

A man in Clarksburg, Ontario, is facing 11 charges related to child pornography following an investigation by the Collingwood and Blue Mountains Ontario Provincial Police.

The man was arrested on Thursday after a three-month investigation by the local OPP unit, in conjunction with the child abuse and digital forensics departments.

On February 2, police executed a search warrant at a residence in Clarksburg and arrested 69-year-old William McKettrick.

The 69-year-old was charged with six counts of possessing child pornography and five counts of accessing child pornography.

Police say several electronic devices containing child sexual abuse material have been seized.

“Our reality today is that everyone around the world with a sexual interest in children has immediate access to children on the Internet. We, as parents and community members, need to know who our children interact with online. are doing,” said Det. Staff Sgt. Sharon Hanlon of the Child Sexual Abuse Unit.

“These criminals are very clever and use technology to reach children, even if they are in another city or country.”

The hearing on the bail of the youth is going on.
